Monterey Bay Aquarium Trip
(Archive Post from January 2015) Last Friday evening we drove down to Monterey to take Peter there for the first time. We got a hotel near the Aquarium, parked Friday and didn't move the car until we left for home on Sunday. I love being near water... especially close to the ocean. Bayside towns have such a sweet artsy vibe to them, it really soothes my soul.
Peter hasn't stayed in a hotel for over a year, so it was a new experience for him. I was a little worried he would be bent out of shape having his routine messed up- but he was totally fine. We hit up Wave Street Cafe in the morning for THE MOST AMAZING huevos rancheros i've ever had- then off to the aquarium.
We got in at opening and super quickly (thanks members passes!) and Peter ran from tank to tank shouting with excitement. He really did love everything there... Before we ever got to the museum we talked about petting the bat rays, but when we got there... he would only put his hand on the surface of the water. I definitely tried dunking his hand a few times, which led to short, loud screams. Parents that don't want to, innocently, scare their kids a little bit are missing out on some fun. We didn't do much besides eating out, playing at the aquarium and visiting an antique 'mall' - which was exactly what our little family needed.
